What services are provided in home health care?
Every health care provider is unique in their home health services, but at Just Like Family, we offer a wide variety of services to accommodate any need. Our services range from companionship to to overnight/live in care. Our staff is certified and trained to provide personal care for Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Cancer, Parkinson’s, and more. They bathe, dress, offer assistance, and remind our clients about medications when it’s time. Our companionship includes reading, outings, visits, family engagements, medical appointments, and grocery shopping. Home support helps with household chores, such as laundry, light housekeeping, gardening, trash, and meal preparation. Overnight or 24-hour care includes all of these services combined for full care of your loved one, whether for the evening or 24/7.
Are home health caregivers licensed?
At Just Like Family, all of our caregivers are carefully screened and are licensed and bonded. We ensure each of our caregivers has some experience caring for others and genuinely enjoys taking care of our clients. It’s important to us that your family feels safe and cared for even when you aren’t able to be there.
How much does home health care cost?
Home health care can range in price based on the services provided and the needs of the client. Generally the cost is about $30 per hour, but the price can change based on the skills needed for care, the length of time care is provided, the location of the home, and more. Who pays for home health services?
Home health services are not publicly insured under the Canada Health Act, but that does not mean all home health services are exempt from government funding. Those who have served in the armed forces and the RCMP and eligible veterans can qualify for specific home health services. Home health care services are funded both publicly and privately. Publicly-funded clients like Just Like Family services receive care that is either contracted by the agency and paid for by the government or contracted through a home care agency paid by the client who then receives a monthly stipend. Funding for home health care also varies across provinces, so contacting our office to talk to one of our staff members is a great way to learn what your province provides and what your loved one may qualify for.
Is there a home health service location near me?

Are there benefits to choosing home health services over a nursing home?
While not everyone has the ability to choose between home health services and a nursing home, those who can generally choose home health care for its benefits for their loved ones. Home health care allows your loved one to stay at home with their familiar surroundings which often provides a sense of safety and calm during uncertain times. Being at home also allows them freedom to have visitors any time of day and gives them a sense of control. Is home health care cheaper than a nursing home?
This question is a bit tricky as it will depend on the services you need, the medical assistance provided, and any government help provided. Generally speaking, home health services are cheaper than a nursing home; however, there are exceptions to this depending on the situation.
