Margaret Steeghs

Director of Community Relations & Client Care

As a gerontology specialist, Margaret has dedicated her career to helping enhance the lives of older adults. She first started volunteering at a long-term care home when she was completing her degree at UBC and has never looked back. Margaret now has over seven years of professional experience working with seniors.

Before joining the Just Like Family team, Margaret was previously working as a Recreation Manager at a care home owned by one the largest providers of care and accommodation in North America.

In 2015, she completed the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma Program in Gerontology from Simon Fraser University, graduating with honours and was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Silver Medal for academic achievement and community involvement.

In her spare time, Margaret loves to play beach volleyball, bake (lemon squares are her favourite!) and spend time exploring BC with her family.

Margaret is ecstatic to join Our Family and to apply her knowledge and experience in order to help older adults thrive in their homes and communities.

Testimonials

I tried several home care companies before but I wasn’t happy with them sending different caregivers all the time…Just Like Family has offered me the stability and consistency I needed for my dad to stay at home safe.

What I like about Just Like Family’s Caregivers is that they are very caring and dependable so I trust them with my life.

Christine C. Langley

The connection my parents have with their Caregiver is that of a close friend, not an employee that provides a service, so they can’t wait for the days when she visits them.
